Transition Town Hervey Bay, in conjunction with the Neighbourhood Centre, are offering people the opportunity to participate in a community garden at The Cottage, 16 Peters Lane, Pialba from January to June 2010.
The aim is to take affirmative action in thinking globally to reduce carbon footprints and climate change by acting locally in creating food gardens. Hence the creation of Transition Town Gardeners.
Meetings and activities are planned for the 1st and 3rd Thursday of January, February, March and April. And the 2nd and 4th Saturday of January, February, March and April (regardless of weather). We will be meeting from 7.00am to 10.00am (times may change as the weather cools). A once-off $5 membership fee applies for insurance purposes ($10 for families), and we ask that participants bring their own tools, sunblock, water, trade table contributions, and morning tea to share.
More information will be available from our notice board. A communication box (mail box) will be installed in front of the Cottage as a distribution point of news letters and information. Installation scheduled for 30 January working bee.
